Not very similar to the classic Echo and the Bunnymen. It feels very Coldplay-like. Good vocals, but the updated version seems forced.

The singers an egomaniac and the band are just OK. Actually it's a pretty good record, their best, BUT IT AND THE BAND AS A WHOLE ARE ABOUT HALF AS GOOD AS THE UK BAND FELT. FELT IS THE TRUE GENIUS OF BRITISH 80's PSYCHEDELIC ROCK!!!

this album conjures and invokes senses and forces of the himalayas...Shankar's touch adds weird urgency to the swirling sometimes despondent (and quite existential) mix.

this is essential echo...and very much like the Banshees after they did JUJU, they realized they opened up something...i think they went one more step (a bit artier) with Ocean Rain.

but this is simply by far their best.

a challenging album for all emotions.

To me this is the good stuff from the 80's, not the stuff you would hear on the radio day after day on hit radio, not the weekend special 80's programming that plays that one song by the top 40 bands of the 80's...this is the real 80's that we missed due to being young and impressionable, and oversaturated with contemporary pop and alternative music of the day. I do remember a show called 120 Minutes (on Mtv) that might have played this very late at night though, and it was the most intriguing interesting music for many people they would hear, and it came in such small doses, it was like just a small portion when we were starving for something substantial.

I admit to being a big Duranny back in the day, and even today, and did have my favorite new wave songs and top 40 songs, but to me just as important was the cutting edge of the 80's scene in all genre's of music, today more than ever it is quite clear as to what won out, in the long run you have to look around for the really good stuff, you would have to go to a cutting edge club somewhere, or a friends house back in the day, purchase at an out of the way record store if you were to hear such classic music from an exciting time.
