![]() Brotherhood: Life in the FDNY $4.40 This is a wonderful look into the lives of the FDNY. The main objective of this video is to introduce the viewer to three differnt stations in New York. The main story focuses on their response and training elements. Another story is the possible moving of Engine 252 being moved closer to downtown Manhattan. The story give the viewer a brief look into not only the humor but the self defense comments that keep them from going crazy. Some material may shock smaller views and parents should keep that in mind if planning to watch with children. A great movie. ![]() Tae Guk Gi - The Brotherhood of War $14.94 Tae Guk Gi started off well enough, introducing us to a story of two brothers and their family and the effects the Korean War had on them. The action is good too; it brings up situations that you don't usually see in war movies. What causes the movie to unravel is the melodrama. It's piled on like so much syrup, and the film buckles under the weight as it plays out. It's like the battle around them ignores their personal dealings so the characters can put on a show! If anyone saw them hugging out there on the field, someone would just shoot them both and keep running! It started ok, but then twisted into an action movie instead of a war movie. By the end, it was less a respectable war film and more like Pearl Harbor! The sappy drama and music had me laughing by the end! Don't get me wrong, this story could have made a great movie, and it gets credit for being one of the few about the Korean War. But if a war movie unintentionally makes you laugh, it's not that good. ![]() Brotherhood: Three Season Pack $99.98 Well written and beautifully acted: Brotherhood is a solid drama. I don't know why I don't hear more about it. Annabeth Gish is brilliant in the series (I think she's the best thing in a very good show) but, in my opinion, somewhat underused. I know it's supposed to be about 'brotherhood' so obviously it's male oriented but the community and the families are a huge part of the show and the writers could have given Gish way more than they do. In missing out Eileen's confession to her husband by leaving it as an inter-season occurence (seasons 1 to 2), I felt the writers did not only the actors a total disservice but also me as a viewer who had been watching the entire first series build to that very moment. I watched the second season opener with such anticipation for that scene and was sorely disappointed that it was left to the imagination. Ah well, I will continue to watch it as I find it very enjoyable - they build tension very well and the characters are constructed and portrayed so that you care about them very quickly. Is it wrong that I prefer the gangster brother to the politician? The triple-pack is better value than getting all three separately too, I found... ![]() Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 1) $7.99 Hello. I was looking for a new seriers to read in the Paranormal Romance genre. Some of my old favorites are just not as good anymore and I dont enjoy reading them now. I saw reference to J.R Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood series in some of the reviews of those books as a better series and decided to check it out. I actually started with Book 2 (Rhage and Mary) and I liked it well enough that I went back and got Book 1 (Wrath and Beth). I really like the series. It is a lot going on in the books, but it all flows so well, with letting you know some backstory and setups for future stories, but it never seems to be too much info, just enough. I have series issue with some of the Alpha males in the other series just being too too much to deal with. OOOOh I love my Alpha males but, when they are so dominant, arrogant and misogynistict that they should be taken out and shot that just detracts from the story. But these guys in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series are wild, dominant, arrogant and flawed, loyal, lovable, and have some of the best male bonding that is way lacking in the other series. Their interaction with each other is buck wild but they love each other, trust each ohter, and have each others backs, 3 dimensional characters. Wrath (the blind Vampire king) and Beth (just about to become a Vampire) made a good story. I like the way it unfolded from their 1st meeting to their final ending, you could see the growth of the characters and the development of the love between them. I like that they have a choice. Fun new series to read, very modern take on the Vampire's. Some people are into historical romances, but not me so this suits me just fine. Looking forward to catching up and reading the rest of the series. |
