Blue Moon: The Immortals
Blue Moon: The Immortals

$9.99
I usually try to give a series a chance so even though I didn't have the greatest opinion of Evermore I read Blue Moon in the hopes that, maybe, the series just had a slow, simple start and would come into its own as the books went on.

Nope.

Blue Moon was disappointing at its best moments and absurd at its worst. Every mysterious aspect of the story did nothing to capture my imagination or interest - including the new mysterious guy who was responsible for Damen's new mysterious condition. Ever did what she does best - run around in circles like a vapid moron while the readers wish she would do something to validate all the time they spent reading.

The Immortals Series feels like it's trying very hard to be Twilight but it's just not bottling any of the lightning that made that series so memorable or such a success with certain readers. Ever is indecisive and without depth, the only interesting thing about Damen is he's immortal and attractive, and all the high school characters are unkind stereotypes, headcases and sociopaths. The author throws in a ton of New Age tidbits but does nothing to create a firm mythos to her story to make it feel unique or let her readers feel absorbed in the world she's creating. It seems like a lot of potentially good ideas and good characters going to waste.

At least Noel stopped with all the product placement and brand names listed on every page.

One thing that really irks me - how can there be "rogue immortals" if there's no definitive immortal society or ideology they're supposed to adhere to? To go "rogue" one must break away from a system or act in defiance of it - these immortals have no such thing since they all drift around, doing their own thing. Since only 4 have been introduced in the series so far these immortals aren't "going rogue", they're just jerks.

Also, can I say how anti-climatic and just plain idiotic it is that Ever would choose to believe Roman - a person she has loathed and distrusted since the second he was introduced - OVER a pair of helpful spirits sent by her younger sister, Riley, to watch after Ever? I understand Noel needed some avenue to get to her third book and whatever happens next but she couldn't think of a way that was plausible or made her heroine seem like such a dope? That kind of laziness in story-telling doesn't encourage me to read on because I'll likely just get cheated out of any satisfying resolution again and again.

I won't tell anyone else how to spend their money or time but I'm finished with the immortals series and wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

Replaced Kill Doctor Lucky and Carcassonne as our new favorite game. My wife and I love to play board games and this one is perfect. Things we like about the game.
1) Theme - different fantasy races trying to rebuild their beautiful city. Gorgeous artwork on cards and game tiles bring this game to life.
2) Well constructed - game tiles/pieces are made with quality and the cards are holding up nicely even after well over 10 games worth of shuffling.
3)Perfect Moderate Pace - Not super fast and not annoying slow. Each turn takes about a minute or so, most of the time you know what you want to do before it gets to your turn.
4) Strategy! you have to think ahead with your cards and board movement, a lot of times you have more than one option, but trust me, it isn't headache complicated.
5) Never the same game twice! - move the tiles and shape the city any which way you want, hindering movement to certain areas or creating possible higher/lower finished tile combos.
6) Not a lot of Fiddly bits. The game doesn't have you control a bunch of game pieces. I find this confusing in other games, trying to remember everything you have.
We are yet to play it with our friends, who also love the other two above games. Should be very interesting in a 3/4 player game.
****Tons of Fun!****

This is a fast-paced story with an unconventional heroine and a mysterious hero. The heroine's character development was a little uneven, the romance was kind of flat, and I must admit I was disappointed when this book turned out not to be about what I assumed (any explanation would involve spoilers). I'm not sure I'll continue the series. However, it was still a nice read and a nice change of pace. This is a great book for fans of unconventional paranormal that's lighter on the romance.

The book is 140 pages an is in lagre tyye double spaced. So, if you are blind than this is the erotic bok for you ... Its a simple sensous tale done in two parts. 19th century France finds our young heroine playing the voyeur spying on her young aunt and husband enjoying their bodies hidden away in the bushes and summer houses. Although her fingers give her much wanted relief she is finally wedded to a rather rich fopish gentleman who comes from the 'slam bam thank you mam' school ...The second part of the book then deals with the utterly French custom of young ladies of leisure finding relief to their burning need in the arms of a young lieutenant .... Nothing kinky here just sweet and soft eroticism which may the perfect book for someone who may be reading Harlequin and wants more punch in the sex parts of the book.....
