Safety 1st In-Sight Video Monitor
Safety 1st In-Sight Video Monitor

$169.99
This monitor is a standard video monitor with an audio monitor that you can clip onto your belt or carry around. Yes, if you place the camera too far up you won't get a clear view of the entire crib, but you can adjust the height to view the crib from between the bars. Then the only issue will be your little one may discover the camera and play with it, fold it back or swivel it to another view(...or smile and squeal into the camera). I am happy with this monitor and as for the quality or the image, no it isn't HD and yes you can have too much "noise". However, there are two channels and once you find the right distance and placement, it works really well. We have the monitor in the kitchen and it's like another form of entertainment! Our son's bedroom is directly above our kitchen, so the camera is about 12 feet above the video monitor.
Baseball - A Film By Ken Burns
Baseball - A Film By Ken Burns

I'm watching "Baseball" again this month. I watched it for the first time a few years ago and thought it wonderful then. Still is. I'm enjoying it all over again. As for those reviewers who are disappointed because the series concentrates so much on NY and Boston teams, I can understand why they might want to see more about their own cities' teams. But let's face it, folks, you've got to make some choices and was Burns supposed to concentrate on the teams below the contenders with some of the less talented players in Philadelphia, Minneapolis, etc? There are parts of the series anyway about the Kansas City Monarchs, Pittsburgh Grays, Cincinatti, etc. For the period before 1970s, white baseball's history was primarily an Eastern NY City-Boston affair. Not Burns' fault ML expansion didn't occur earlier, baseball wasn't integrated sooner, or that teams elsewhere often weren't very good. Perhaps Burns needs to add another post-1990s 10th inning to capture the greater geographical distribution of white baseball more recently; but for what's there now on the history of earlier baseball, it's wonderful and should be enjoyed.
Jakks Pacific Ultimotion Swing Zone Sports Motion Controller Video Game
Jakks Pacific Ultimotion Swing Zone Sports Motion Controller Video Game

$74.99
Alright - let me state the obvious facts first.
- 1 This game is clearly meant to be an inexpensive alternative to the unbelievably high-priced, ever-popular Wii.
- 2 It obviously ISN'T a Wii.
- 3 You can NOT buy additional games for this system.
- 4 This is likely an item best suited for kids and young teens.

Now that we have that out of the way - this is a VERY nice game for the entire family to enjoy together. It is simple enough that a 5 year old child could play it, but it can be challenging enough to entertain mom and dad.

This game DOES require both AA and AAA batteries. You can use rechargeables to save cash.

The controller seems to be fairly responsive to movement - though exact form is NOT really important. But that's perfect for entertaining kids without frustrating them too much.

I purchased this for my 8 year old nephew, and he absolutely loves it.

One added benefit is that it gets kids up and moving. Plus it costs a fraction of the Wii's price tag.

This is a cool toy for the entire family to enjoy together.
Little League's Official How-To-Play Baseball Video [VHS]
Little League's Official How-To-Play Baseball Video [VHS]

I bought this video for my six-year old who is fanatical about playing baseball. While there is a lot of information in this video, it is explained too quickly to be easily understood. But the biggest problem is the grainy, streaky, poor quality of the video image. Watching the players' bushy hair and the coaches' unflatteringly tight jerseys makes clear that this video was made a long time ago. Since the information is valuable, it would be wonderful if Little League remade the video with modern video technology and sold it as a DVD. Until that happens, this is not a video that is worth your money.
