It is also about the Pittsburgh Steelers of course but if you lived on Pittsburgh's North Side or attended North Catholic High School this book should be at the top of your gift/wish list. If you are over age 60 and followed the Steelers even a little when you were a kid, the names in the book will refresh distant memories. The format is such that you don't have to read it all in one sitting. You can take your time and reflect on the 5 or 10 pages you read before dinner. You will also learn about the character and moral fabric of 'The Chief' or AJR as the author Art Rooney Jr often refers to his dad in the book. You will also learn about Art Rooney Jr's quest to become the best personnel scout in the NFL. Nearly 500 pages with very little white space and has interesting photos. A name index would have been helpful. A must read. You will enjoy it from cover to cover. ![]() The chief: Art Rooney and his Pittsburgh Steelers $25.95 The book was good in that is covered the lives of the Rooney brothers from start to finish, right up to today. The book is not strictly about Art Rooney though, there are alot of stories about his brothers as well. The book has several testimonials about the Cheif written by those who were close to him. The only downside is some of the stories are repeated and it is a bit long. |
