![]() Vipre AntiVirus + AntiSpyware $49.99 Vipre AntiVirus + AntiSpyware I purchased this item after extensive research and reading that it is completely compatible with Windows 7. It is not. I must go to the vipre website every day, manually download new definitions and then go through a whole process of installing the updates. And there is no softare update. I have automatic update checking and I have received the messages since day one- Vipre was unable to complete the check for threat definitions- Vipre was unable to complete the check for software updates. There is no support for this software. When searching for support I found a website that shows these severe problems have been in place now for over a year without correction. Sunbelt states they will get to it, (again that was over a year ago!) and another explanation given by Sunbelt is they keep their servers turned off most of the time, because, it would cause downloads to be to slow if everyone was getting automatic updates. I wrote to them and was told to go to the website and manually download the updates. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the poor performance of this product and would not recommend it to anyone. ![]() Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware - 2 Year Subscription $39.99 AVG isn't a bad product, but it's not competitive with the latest from Norton. I've used AVG in the past and installed this to see, and it's OK. I haven't had a problem on computers on which I've used it, but I'm also very careful about what I do on the web. I would urge you to consider Norton Internet Security 2010. Norton used to be a wretched product: It didn't matter if it worked, as it took over the machine. But with IS 2009 it completely changed. It's very effective and 2010 is even better. What's so nice is that you'll rarely notice it's even active, as they've redone the product to do most of its work when the machine is idle. Further, there's not even much of a price differential. You can find the 3-PC version of Norton IS 2010for $30. Granted that's only 1 year, but many people have more than 1 PC. If I've never had a problem, then why am I pushing Norton rather than AVG? Because those sites that go to a good deal of effort to determine how effective a product is rate Norton very well and AVG not so much so. At least do a bit of research. ![]() Sunbelt Counterspy AntiSpyware $19.99 The product they are selling here is a 30 day trial of this software . The activation code in this box will not work . When you try and register this for one year and get new updates , you are told it will cost you another 19.99 . I thought maybe I had received a defective one , so I got a replacement, and the same deal . I have returned them both ,and I will look elsewhere for spyware software that has no hidden costs ! ![]() Trend Micro Antivirus + Antispyware 2009 [OLD VERSION] $39.95 I installed this on my laptop after my complimentary year of Norton's antivirus suite ran out. Things are still running fine. The system may be slightly slower, but it isn't very noticeable to a user like me. I am not typically running multiple programs -- alot of Internet and email use. No viruses have been detected thus far -- but I don't download much, so I am probably not in a particularly high risk category. |
