I was a bit disappointed with the fact that this wasn't an all-metal reel, but since it wasn't specifically described as such, it came as no big surprise, either. Regardless, I bought this reel to store my 50-foot air hose GoodYear 045 3/8-Inch-by-50-Feet Safety Yellow Rubber Hose 3/8 -Inch by 50-Feet 250 PSI With 1/4-Inch Ends, so that I wouldn't be tripping over my hose when not in use, and the reel manages to hold it all, if just barely. The reel's stand is metal--and sturdy--but only time will tell if the soft plastic side rims will hold up. It's a fairly priced unit, and definitely a step or two above the Home Depot-type cheapo units, such as the Bayco K-100 150-Foot Cord Reel. No complaints here for my garage application, but don't expect this unit to rock-'n'-roll for very long, say, at a construction site. PS: One often overlooked particular is the carrying-handle design, and this one is spot-on and comfortable.

I bought this for my five year old son. I was concerned that it was too complicated and too fragile but he had his little heart set on getting Optimus Prime and the only other model costs twice as much. Well both concerns turned out unfounded. After a little bit of initial help, Jack was soon converting it from robot to truck and back without any help - it really wasn't that complicated but kudos on the overall sophistication of the toy for the price. In terms of durability, well parts do tend to fall off - particularly the smoke stacks, the feet and these red flaps on the arms. But fortunately they snap right back on and seem none the worse. It seems that the toy was designed to give on pre set snap joints rather than breaking - kudos again for the design folks. I don't want to overstate the quality - I am sure it will break in time, almost all toys do, but it survived the first week with a whole lot of play and my son is very happy spending a lot of time with opimus prime.
