![]() Alien vs. Predator: Requiem $17.98 With AVP2 Brian Tyler proves his versatility again by demonstrating another skill: That he can reference previous scores to a franchise without relying on them verbatim and make it sound easy. It's no fluke either as his score for Rambo perfectly blended new themes with Jerry Goldsmith's memorable score. AVP2 starts off strong with `Aliens Vs Predator - Requiem,' which, as it's title suggests offers a take on Clint Mansell's highly referenced `Lux Aeterna' from Requiem for a Dream. He does so again (sort of) with `Opening Titles' which also plays on the military snare drums for James Horner's score for Aliens. `Decimation Proclamation' is vintage Tyler that would sit wonderfully in Darkness Falls. Also worth a mention is the 13 minute `Taking Sides' where Tyler simultaniously references John Frizzell's Alien Resurrection and also gives James Horner a run for his money in the extended-track-length-stakes. I could go on through each track but suffice it to say most of the pieces have a delicate balance of Goldsmith's Alien, Horner's Aliens, Goldenthal's Alien3, Frizzel's Alien Resurrection and Silvestri's Predators 1&2. Remarkably not once does it sound forced or a lazy rip-off which speaks volumes to his skill as a composer. Other reviewers clearly disagree with this assessment but it's a matter of interpretation. I will say I own the scores to every Alien film and while I definintely hear the homage (read influence), I can't see the claim of plagarism as justifiable. Tyler should be commended for not abandoning where AVP came from. He chose not to run from the franchises history. The problem with Requiem is that at 77 minutes long, the best tracks are crammed at the front while the second half is not nearly as memorable or interesting. It's an odd critcism to say there's too much music provided on an album and it's not one I'm making. What I'm saying is that the soundtrack release could of benefited from some better track arrangement and pacing. ![]() AVP - Alien vs. Predator / Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (Unrated Two-Pack) $34.98 Read part 1 1st got that ok back to my review. Aside from Lance Henriksen the characters are cliche as you can get wrapped in a cliche plot you got a mountain climber/environmentalist Alexa Woods played by Sanaa Lathan terrible choice for a main character should've been killed off with our next cliche character Sabastian De Rosa played by Raoul Bova he's a archaeologist another boring character thank God they killed him off there was the other characters there very forgettable like I want forget my 3 viewings of this film. Lance Henriksen as Charles Bishop Weyland ok so who was the Bishop in Alien 3 so it try's to cancel out a more superior film yeah Alien 3 had it's problems but it's my 2nd favorite in the series. Story is so lame, cliche & forgettable the Weyland Yutani satellite found somthing in a pyramid in Anartica so we get an so basically the Predator helped build it you know some s**t you would read in a 5th grade text book. So then they go to Antartica & check it out. ![]() Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (Extreme Unrated Set + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] $39.99 I'm always happy when what you see is what you get. I got the product very cheap, and it came in great condition. ![]() Alien VS. Predator: Requiem NECA Action Figure Series 4 Battle Damaged Masked Predator $22.00 This was purchased as a gift for my grandson for his birthday. When it arrived it appeared to be in great condition however when he opened it up on his birthday the arm was detached. It was definitely a little disappointing to both myself and my grandson. It would have been exactly what he wanted and he would have loved it had it been in one piece. |
