![]() The Complete Guide to Associate & Affiliate Programs on the Net: Turning Clicks Into Cash $21.95 Most of the advice from this book is still relevant, generate a high volume site that is 'sticky' for users and pick appropriate affiliate schemes. It does provide useful advice e.g. to utilize your existing web sites and links to help build volume. In isolation, this book is insufficient. Unless you already have a good traffic volumes, you will have to gain an understanding of search engine positioning and viral marketing to get your site traffic up. Only good content will get people to stay. If you are writing content just to generate affiliate sells (some people do), you should be looking at how you can generate more income from the content than affiliate sells only (e.g. do you have a related product or service you can sell?). Since 1999, affiliate programs have come, gone and changed. In this respect the book is out of date. Good introduction but showing its age - affiliate sells should be part of an overall strategy unless your doing it for pocket money. ![]() A Practical Guide to Affiliate Marketing: Quick Reference for Affiliate Managers & Merchants $29.99 Well-written and packed with comprehensive "in the trenches" experience, this book is excellent for anyone considering managing and running their own affiliate program. What I like best about this book is Prussakov's focus on operational details and how to avoid major mistakes in running an affiliate program. The author does a superb job of detailing many easy-to-make mistakes I'd overlooked entirely; this book provides a comprehensive checklist of many innovative techniques for recruiting, training and retaining affiliates. The business-building tips (and focus on treating affiliates fairly) are much appreciated, and this book goes beyond the basics, providing a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommended!
