I'll be the first to admit I'm not heavy in the rap/r&b genre (perhaps evidenced by having just lumped the two together). K'naan's ABC's, though, is one of those few songs that reaches out to the soul and defies its labels.

With influences of the Fugees and Will-i-am, ABC's tackles some tough social issues with style and panache. K'naan's smart writing keeps the song well on the side of inspirational rather than preachy, and that is the joy of listening (akin to Neil Young's "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World").

I sincerely hope ABC's gets some radio play, because the world could use a little more good, meaningful music.

This CD & DVD combo (yes, it has both discs) is a lot of fun. We enjoy throwing it in for trips because it's something we can all enjoy & the kids learn along the way. I'm not what you would call a TMBG fan (I've subsequently tried a few other things...) but this is great. The DVD is quirky, but fun to watch once.

I really like this book, it's one of the more fun books for me to read to my 12 month old. I love that it is a board book so she can't rip it apart as easily. I did however, think it would be a bit bigger in size as there are a lot of pictures on each page. It seems hard for baby to pay attention to, almost overwhelming it seems. She still into books with more simple pictures to look at. I'm guessing she'll like it more when she's a bit older. For now, mommy likes it more than baby does.
