![]() Pro Ears Ultra 33 Passive Hearing Protection $36.95 The Pro Ears Ultra 33 is not worth the money and is poorly made of cheap plastic. The pivot that attaches the ear muffs to the headband broke on one side after about two weeks. Terrible product. Don't waste your money. Zoom in on the picture provided and you will see what I mean. ![]() A Truth Universally Acknowledged: 33 Great Writers on Why We Read Jane Austen $25.00 This is a diverse collection of essays about Jane Austen's novels and earlier work. The essays range from new pieces by contemporary writers and critics to previously published pieces by writers like Somerset Maugham and Virginia Woolf. For the most part, the essays are thought-provoking and fairly substantial in terms of scholarly ambition. This collection is meant for Austen fans who are very familiar with her work. Those who've read an Austen novel or two but who are not familiar enough with her work to recall all the primary characters and plot points will find many of these essays obscure. I suggest reading all six novels first and then reading this collection of essays to deepen the experience and to gain new insights. My only real complaint with this collection is that the essays are undated. I would like to know the date of each of the essays and the publication in which they first appeared (for the previously published essays). Literary criticism is very much connected to the time period in which it was written and without knowing the dates of the earlier essays it's difficult to understand the context in which they were written. ![]() Magic Tree House #33: Carnival at Candlelight (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) $4.99 I bought this book for my grandson and he just loves it. This is not his first book written by Mary Pope Osborn he has most of the series. He doesn't read yet so I read them to him and he will sit for the full length of the book just waiting to hear what's coming next. I've already read two of her books back to back to him and he wanted a third read to him. The books are definely a great adventure for young readers plus they learn something too. |
