2000: Network
 Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2-Bay (Diskless) Desktop Network Storage RND2000 $386.00 I bought this unit to replace my WD NetBook "World Edition" which died. I thought that I could pull the RAID 1 drives from the WD unit and put them or their data in the NetGear NAS. WRONG !! The Western Digital unit was formatted in some obscure 16bit format which windows cannot read. I had to pay a guy $300 to recover the data. Not willing to be fooled twice, I decided that my NAS was going to have to be self recoverable from windows (NTFS or FAT32 format). I sent the NetGear NAS back un-opened and set up a spare PC as an NAS (2 1TB drives) You think you have a robust NAS because the drives are RAIDED, then the unit itself dies on you and what have you got? You've got a couple of drives in a format that a PC can't read. I think NAS in a format other than NTFS or FAT32 is a mistake. The NetGear NAS may be fine, but based on my recent experience I think it's a bad idea. -- db  Cartoon Network All-Stars $19.99 Why pay like ten bucks a pop online, when you can get this 4-in-one CD-ROM for around twenty dollars ? Yes, it's "Cartoon Network All Stars" based on the POWERPLAY franchise on the Cartoon Network website. The four games are "To the EDS-treme", "Cartoon Cove Mini-golf", "Fast and Flurrious" featuring the Powerpuff Girls, and "Dropple". These games are really fun to play whether it's doing cool skateboard tricks or bursting blobs of goo. I'm certain that there might be a volume 2 in development. If so, the POWERPLAY games might consist of "Dexter's Labyrinth", "KND Downhill Derby", "Buggin' Out" featuring the Foster's gang, "Freaky Freezeday" starring Billy and Mandy, "Triple Threat Pinball", and/or "Bowl-ED Over". Well, I'll wait and see until then. It sure beats spending money online; not to mention a wait time to download involved.
