He says that coal plants are putting more carbon dioxide into the air than anything else. He advocates Conservation, the promotion of alternative energy, solar and wind power, the greater use of fourth- generation nuclear- power. He argues the big Energy companies are not really working to develop alternative energy. On the Russian- Georgian conflict the Russian ambassador naturally says Russia's actions are defensive. He claims they have acted to prevent 'genocide' in South Ossieta and Avkazia. Charlie Rose asks in a tougher way than usual about Russian expansionism and desire to reestablish its hegemony over near neighbors. My sense is that in both these conversations, people from the 'other side' should have been brought in. In the Russian segment Charlie Rose was quite tough but Hanson got away without a single really critical and tough question. |
