Strengthening yourself is a necessity, not a luxury. It can cause a lot of misery not having extra confidence, money or freedom, which believe me you absolutely need for your safety and well-being sometimes. If you have dreams and goals other than dependence on others, it's a big deal to have the focus and drive to accomplish what you need to. Strengthening and fulfilling yourself is the ultimate gift to you and your loved ones. Someone said that being a mother and homebody are legitimate life choices and they are, but don't romanticize the home and family thing if it also means being dependent, because I've seen some bad stuff go down partly because the women didn't have any choices. We all have some strength to draw on even in the worst case scenarios and we win when we survive, but hopefully the goal is more than just surviving. Women who have their own lives, (even in a home and family) have more options if something is to go wrong. If things get abusive, if they need to protect their children or just fund a dream later in life, you have education, or skills to fall back on. For many of us raised in sexist belief systems that discourage (or give mixed messages about) choices for women etc... it can end up being humiliating and debilitating - and sometimes dangerous - to not have resources of your own. Plus, it's great to feel powerful and fulfill your dreams and goals. When you prepare and train for it, you can have a joy-filled life with as many of your desires and needs (and those of your loved ones) taken care of as possible. ![]() Experiment in Terror $9.99 Experiment in Terror is one of those now rarely seen films from the tail end of the film noir era. Made in 1962 by Blake Edwards, who would later go on the make the Pink Panther films and Victor/Victoria, starring his wife Julie Andrews. This film showed what might have been, if Edwards had of kept on making detective and film noir thillers, instead of light fuffy comadies. A real edge of your seat movie. But I would like to know why the Marketplace Sellers want so much for this film on dvd. 60.00 buck is an outlandish price for a film, just because it's on dvd. |
