![]() Nice Work (King Penguin) $16.00 This is the only book I have ever read, fiction or non-fiction, which makes the issues of postmodernist literary and social criticism really clear without oversimplification, doing so partially by embodying them in the characters and actions of a living, breathing novel. For this alone Lodge gets 5 stars. I regard Nice Work as head and shoulders above Lodge's other novels, although Trading Places is pretty good. Highly recommended. ![]() Nice Work If You Can Get It $14.98 Ok, so you put together the greatest female vocalist of all times -ELLA FITZGERALD and a total music maven - ANDRE PREVIN and some truly wonderful Gershwin tunes, and you get this album....oops, I mean CD. It's terrific. Produced by the world-famous Jazz Impressario, Norman Granz and with interesting, beautifully written liner notes by Benny Green. Get this and enjoy - again and again. ![]() Nice Work If You Can Get It $15.95 How I decided to buy the book is a story in itself. I live in Melbourne Australia. Everyday, on my way to work, I would arrive at Flinders Station in the CBD and notice a busker with an elaborate stand promoting a book - Nice work if you can get it. Interesting set up for a busker I would think, quite impressive and he sings pretty well too. So I decided to investigate this book business, came on line to Amazon - as you would - and ordered the book. On arrival I checked the picture of the author - It didn't look like the busker. Now I was intrigued. Going to the author's website it details how Dean has been travelling around the world backpacking and busking - sort of a low budget promo tour. On The following Monday I went up and introduced myself to Dean. Great guy. Great read. Great story, It is the ultimate guys fantasy, and Dean is living it. First a gigolo in the Costa de Sol now travelling the world. I highly recommend the book! Paul (the little grey man in a grey suit) ![]() Work Hard. Be Nice.: How Two Inspired Teachers Created the Most Promising Schools in America $14.95 This book is exciting and inspirational, as well as wonderfully well-written and entertaining. While the subject matter (improving education) is serious, I smiled or laughed aloud many times. The author is expert at imparting information in a way that makes it delightful to read. |
