![]() Good Examples of Bad Examples: The Best of Ralph Covert and The Bad Examples Vol.2 $9.99 Here's the Bad Examples collection that parents have been asking for and a bit more than that! Fathers and mothers have requested a compendium of Bad Examples music they could play without having to explain that song about a mariner's inebriation at a brothel, why the singer would rather drink an intoxicating beverage than wholesome milk in Heaven, or just what the fictional Adam McCarthy was dying from. This album, properly stickered as well, has 14 kid-friendly gems. Highlights include a new squeaky-clean version of Ralph Covert's signature song, "Not Dead Yet" (as covered by Styx and heard on HBO's Six Feet Under), a new full-band version of "The Amazing Romero," (an acoustic version can be heard on the "Birthday" album, a brand-new song, "Find Your Cherry Bomb," and rescuing from an obscure charity release, "Christmas In Vegas." The package contains a fully-illustrated booklet delineating the original sources for each track.Unlike the previous still-available hits set, Popscape: The Best of Ralph Covert And The Bad Examples, Vol. 1, this second volume can also fit alongside the Ralph's World albums. While this is definitely adult rock'n'roll, it's one you won't mind your kids hearing--and loving. ![]() Baby Einstein:Meet the Orchestra $6.98 Parents please be aware that many studies show that the more television children under five watch the less likely they are to engage in creative play. (DVDS being basically the same thing as TV ). Dimitri Christakis the director of the Child Health Institute at the University of Washington quoted in the book Parenting Inc, states: "Based on the research I have done there is reason to believe these products (DVDs for babies and toddlers) have a deleterious (negative) effect on the developing mind" Another quote, again from Parenting Inc." "There is no research to show that watching a screen is beneficial to a baby in any way, educational or otherwise. If anything it may be putting babies at risk" "A two dimensional screen can never replace a real environment, rich in all five senses. Holistic play is what develops the all the pathways to the brain." Alvin Poussaint, child psychiatrist and director of the Media Center of Judge Baker's Children Center in Boston. "A 2005 study of 1200 children published in Archives of Pediatrics found that children who watch TV before the age of three have lower cognitive scores at age seven." Again from Parenting Inc by Pamela Paul. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under two be kept away from screen media. Please think twice about buying DVDS for a baby or toddler. Do the research, it's not a good idea. Stick to the old fashioned toys that engage kids in creative play - blocks, balls etc. ![]() For Example $9.98 This was a solid album for anyone who loves 90's R&B or R&B in general. These guys can actually sing and the songs don't stray far at all into raunchy land. A good album that you can play around your kids and enjoy. There were so many R&B groups back then that never made a second album because R&B and Hip Hop Fans are so finicky and Fad driven. These guys were one of those bands. I recommend this album to anyone. |
