We cannot get the 4 DVD-edition in Europe. I got it from amazon.com (expedit shipping) in less than a week. Marvelous that is!
There are so many reviews here. I just like to add that this is truly a great portrait of great musicians. For those who play or those who like guitars and the music of that era. Not necessarily for Stones-fans because they do not occur. It was Keith Richards' project. So he's the only one that appears in that movie. His interview though is not presented completely.
Lay back and enjoy an evening of pure Rock'n'Roll music with lots of documentary and interviews!

Purchased this rolling crate for textbooks. Product is flimsy, twists and bends alot. Need two hands to move handle up or down, and handle is short. I am only 5'3" and have to bend down a little when rolling this in the tilted position.
This goes in my "I should never buy anything online that I can't touch, feel, and try out first" column.

I'm not even going to pretend to understand what Lou was trying to pull off with Berlin. And in 2009, with Lou as a clean & sober "elder statesman" of rock, 2008's "Berlin: Live at St. Ann's Warehouse" stands as a nice vindication of the universally abhorred original album. In 1974, when "Rock & Roll Animal" ruled the airwaves, the cuts that received the most airplay were "Intro / Sweet Jane" and "Rock 'n' Roll," with an occasional "Heroin" thrown in for good measure. For my money, the animal really came out to play on "Lady Day" from "Berlin."

It's got the same apocalyptic twin-guitar attack from Hunter & Wagner as the other aforementioned tracks, but it's also the one on which Reed sounds the most committed, the most engaged, the most haunting.

Lou has a real attitude about the whole Academy of Music concerts phenomenon. When R&RA was remastered, he had the opportunity to roll "Lou Reed Live"...the remaining tracks from the show...into one set, and refused to do so. He hated the commercialism of it all but probably deposited every check he received from the shows. His next studio album, Sally Can't Dance, was pure trash born out of contempt for himself and his audience. At the time he was quoted as saying something along the lines of "I could probably not even BE ON the next album and it would still sell."

The next album? Metal Machine Music. He really wasn't on it. He set a Fender Strat on a guitar stand in the center of a series of daisy-chained Marshall Amps, walked out of the room, and recorded the ensuing 60 minutes of feedback and chaos.

Lou...what can I say?

R&RA was the real deal, whether he was phoning in his vocals or not. The fact that he had a robust career after crashing and burning with the success of this venture speaks volumes about his stature as an artist.

If you've ever doubted whether Joan Jett loves rock n' roll, this song will erase that doubt. She loves it. A lot.
